THE BRIGHT ANGEL
FRONTIER FOUNDATION

We have established a separate organization to conduct tax-deductible charitable and educational work on the idea of a frontier area.  This is the Bright Angel Frontier Foundation.  It is organized as a 501(c)(3) charitable corporation.

The work of the Bright Angel Foundation will be somewhat different from that of the Bright Angel Frontier Project.  The Project is an unincorporated association of individuals who have retained latitude to conduct their efforts as events require, including the ability to lobby the legislature. This means that contributions to the Project are not tax deductible. The Foundation is a separate, incorporated entity that will engage in a narrower range of tasks, confining itself to work that is charitable and educational within the meaning of the tax code.  This will include some of the most time-consuming and important tasks involved in Western public lands, such as participanting (if invited) in the management of a heritage area, and conducting research into the possible design of, and visitor demand for, a more tightly focused period frontier area.  The Foundation will therefore play a very important role in the larger work of conserving the nineteenth century frontier.
